PGGM is the second largest pension fund in the Netherlands, serving 1.9 million clients in the healthcare and social sectors. 

Situation

You can imagine the importance of Information Technology to operate a pension fund for nearly 2 million people in the healthcare and social sectors. These people trust us to collect, administer and pay out their pension when the time comes. Definitely not an area to experiment in with IT you might say, but clearly an environment in which it is important to manage the operational costs. So when I was appointed as director IT and facility services at the start of the year 2000 I had a significant challenge on my hands. How to transform the IT organization towards service and cost levels in accordance with market performance, without endangering our service to our internal and external clients.

Why Nolan, Norton & Co.?

Because I find them very knowledgeable in the field of IT Strategy. They have been assisting me in defining, implementing and reviewing our IT Strategy and Organization since the beginning of 2000.
